I spend 5-15 bucks per bulb, with claims of 10,000 hrs life. How come they burn out less than a month after I buy them? Too expensive, going back to incandescent, and keeping the lights off more often.
Two possibilities come to mind.1. Over voltage. You'll need someone with a voltmeter to check that the voltage being supplied to your house/apt is not over 120.I've found voltages of almost 130! This will shorten the life of the cfl's.2. Don't use a dimmer on a 'regular' cfl. New 'dimmer-capable' cfl's are now being sold; but they are not the norm and more expensive.3. Contact/Complain to the manufacturer and see if they have any ideas. Offer to send them the bulb(s) for examination and request a replacemnet.

The reason they are burning out is because they are the wrong wattage.
